The Algarve is a beautiful place to visit or live. The area boasts over 300 days sunshine a year and even in the winter months can give temperatures in the region of 20 degrees. (naturally in the evenings a little colder).
There are many places to see and the Algarves history caters for everyone. if you are not a beach lover but an explorer then please do not dismiss the region as a tourist area of no historical or traditional flavour. There are many villages, set back just a few kilometres from the coastline, that are just untouched with beautiful market places, historic churches and quiet cafes, where you can take a coffee and watch time go past.
Only 15 minutes from Albufiera is Silves an historic, traditional town with a beautiful Castle set on the hill overlooking the town. You can spend a day here visiting the catsle, walking through the "cobbled" streets and eating sardines in the towns river side restaurants. In August the town of Silves, hosts a Medieval fayre which is visited by peope from all over Portugal and is absolutely worth a visit.
